Alice Springs Airport is 12km (7.5mi) south of the town. You can either grab a cab or take the cheaper airport shuttle, which meets flights, and picks up and drops off at city accommodation. Qantas and Virgin Blue airlines fly from most State capitals to Alice Springs. Greyhound Australia has bus services from major Northern Territory and Queensland towns. Most of the car-rental companies in Alice Springs have 4WDs for hire. Rentals don't come cheap, as most firms offer only 100km (62mi)free per day, which won't get you far. Getting Around

Alice Springs is compact enough to get to most parts of town on foot, and you can reach quite a few of the closer attractions by bicycle. The public bus service, ASbus, departs from outside the Yeperenye shopping centre on Hartley St. Taxis congregate near the corner of Todd St and Gregory Tce.
