Glasgow has the usual big-city crimes so normal caution is advised. Don't wander around unlit streets at night and be aware that pickpockets operate in crowded public places, although this isn't a common problem.

Steer clear of Orange marches, which are exhibitions of solidarity with the Protestant Northern Irish cause; violence can often result when Catholics try to 'break the ranks'.
