This popular seaside town comes alive in summer and has been hosting holiday makers for over 100 years. Busselton is a town in the South West region of Western Australia. Founded in 1832 by the Bussell family, Busselton has been one of the fastest growing regions in Australia in the last decade and has a population of over 20,000.

One of the most distinctive constructions in Busselton is the jetty the longest wooden jetty (pier) in the southern hemisphere, stretching almost 2 km out to sea. Fishing off the Jetty is part of the rite of passage of most Western Australians and something you don't have to miss out on either, even if you are just visiting! About 400,000 people each year visit the jetty, so you will not be a lone angler!

The privilege of viewing the aquatic wonders beneath the Busselton Jetty was once limited only to divers, but now everyone can experience the jetty's underside - without getting wet! After 10 years of planning and fundraising, Busselton Jetty Underwater Observatory was opened on 13 December 2003.

The underwater observatory is a major tourist attraction that can accommodate up to 40 people at a time in its 9.5 m diameter observation chamber. Descending 8 metres below sea level, visitors can view the corals and fish life through eleven viewing windows.

The Festival of Busselton is held during the last week of January each year, and 2007 marked its 43rd year. To help maintain and increase the strength of the tourist industry in Busselton, the Festival of Busselton Committee was inaugurated in 1963 and the very first Festival was held over two days on the Australia Day long weekend in 1964. The Festival has grown from strength to strength, now spanning over nine days with activities to suit the whole family.
