Kroombit Park on Lochenbar Station, a half hour drive from Biloela in Central Queensland is about as untamed as the bush gets.
At Kroombit Park, cattle roam the 10,000 acres and there are only the cockatoos for neighbours. It is the ideal spot for a real bush bash.
The Sandilands family have been on the land at Kroombit Park for decades and these days offer guests an all inclusive bush getaway. All activities and meals are included in the price and while the Sandilands love serving people, guests are also free to join in the farms day-to-day workings.
After the morning chores you can saddle up on one of the 60 horses and head next door to the foothills of the national park, for a relaxing afternoon gallop. Most of Lochenbar can be explored on horseback; in fact here it is the preferred method for getting to work.
In the evening, after a day under the Queensland sun, a hearty home-cooked meal awaits.
At Lochenbar many bush traditions are alive and well including a campfire sing a-long after dinner and sleeping under the stars.
To explore the completely untouched bushland of the next door Kroombit National Park you will need to give up your horse and opt for a 4WD tour.
This national park is one of Queensland's most remote bushlands so odds are you'll have spots like the ancient Marble Waterhole all to yourself.
