Fraser Island is just a 45-minute boat ride from Hervey Bay and is the largest sand island in the world.

The World Heritage-listed island offers the best in island luxury.

The Kingfisher Bay Resort has the ultimate in island accommodation. The whole resort was designed to blend in with the natural surroundings and has a whole bunch of free activities, including tennis and ranger-guided bushwalks.

If you're into angling, fishing clinics are available free of charge. Lessons start with 'knot tying' and are well suited to amateurs.

There are 16 bush walks to choose from, ranging from a leisurely stroll to a gruelling two hour hike. So no matter how fit you are you can really appreciate the natural beauty and if you're feeling peckish on the walk you can always dig into the bush tucker.

Another activity offered on the island are ranger-guided canoe trips.

If all this action has built up an appetite and the natural bush tucker isn't enough there are plenty of eating places to choose from.

Go casual at the Sandbar or tuck into the buffet at the Maheno restaurant. If you're after something a little more formal then head for the Seabelle restaurant. The meals range in price and cater for the kids.

And the perfect way to end the day is with a sunset cruise on the bay with a glass of champagne. The 90-minute cruise on the Blue Dolphin departs at around 5pm.
