Driving in the Great South West
Ernie drives south from Perth's iconic Cottesloe Beach, taking in views across the Indian Ocean.
First stop is Mandurah - With delightful restaurants and cafes, crystal clear blue water, and an abundance of activities for the whole family, Mandurah makes for a great holiday escape. Set amongst 2 acres of wonderfully landscaped gardens, Abingdon Miniature Village in Mandurah has proved to be an enchanted wonderland for adults & children alike.
Further down is Bunbury where the rumbling surf of the Indian Ocean, the calm waters of Koombana Bay and the peaceful Leschenault Inlet offer unique lifestyle and recreation opportunities. White mangrove areas around the port of Bunbury are estimated to be 20,000 years old. A 200m boardwalk has been constructed to provide a walk over this amazing coastal vegetation. Birdlife is prolific in Big Swamp Reserve.
Inland from Bunbury is the mining town of Collie where you'll find Wellington Dam in a spectacular location set in the Collie River Valley.
