This quaint country service centre, located between Narromine (35km south east) and Nyngan (90km north-west) is a testament to traditional Western NSW, contrasting natural scenery with historic architecture and agriculture. The town houses the prominent Trangie wheat silo, which is pivotal to the regions economy and. Welcoming you to the town, the Goan Waterhole parades beautiful water plants and plush natural scenery.

The towns population of 1100 people thrives on weekly fat cattle sales and far-reaching cotton fields. Inhabited by the Wongaibon Aborigines prior to white settlement in the late 1880s, 'Trangie' is an indigenous word meaning 'quick'.

Far-reaching cotton fields surround the town; the cotton-chipping season begins in early November and runs to January, each year.
