The Mid North Coast is centred on the holiday resort town of Coffs Harbour with its abundant beachfront holiday apartments, motels, caravan parks and backpacker accommodation. This area boasts great restaurants, activities & attractions and the spectacular Dorrigo National Park and Solitary Islands Marine Park.
Coffs Harbour is a contemporary city that doubles as a major coastal resort town. It is bordered on one side by the beautiful white beaches of the holiday coast and on the other by the banana plantations, which cascade down the hills from the hinterland.
The town of Dorrigo is located 70km south west of Coffs Harbour, near the edge of the New England escarpment. The surrounding area is rich in Pioneer history and the town is close to the steep mountain road, which descends into the Bellinger Valley.
Woolgoolga or "Woopi", as it is known to the locals is a quiet but pleasant, seaside holiday resort famed for its large Indian population (25% of the population) and hence its Sikh temples, Indian restaurants and distinctive atmosphere.
The Solitary Islands Marine Park is the largest marine protected area in New South Wales. It covers a total area of 100,000 hectares and extends along 75km of coast from Coffs Harbour north to the Sanden River mouth.
Set in the heart of the Bellinger Valley, surrounded by lush hills & deep rivers, the gorgeous town of Bellingen is fast becoming an arts capital for the area.Photos
