Woolgoolga or "Woopi", as it is known to the locals is a quiet but pleasant, seaside holiday resort famed for its large Indian population (25% of the population) and hence its Sikh temples, Indian restaurants and distinctive atmosphere. Woolgoolga is 586 km’s northeast of Sydney and only 25 km’s north of Coffs Harbour on the holiday Coast of New South Wales. It has great surf beaches, rock and estuary fishing and shady picnic areas. The town centre has a range of shops, restaurants, supermarkets and clubs.
Sitting proudly on the hill above the Pacific Highway, it is hard to miss the Guru Nanak Sikh Temple. The Raj Mahal Emporium, with its huge elephants and traditional architecture, houses the Koh-I-Noor Indian Restaurant and gives you the opportunity to experience a little piece of India on the holiday coast of Australia.Photos

I went to Bluebottles brasserie in Woolgoolga years ago and the food was outstanding but the place has sadly gone down hill to I assume some uncaring new owners.
