The North Walk: Walk or drive from the shops, turn right at the bowling club into South Pacific Drive. Turn right into Pacific Vista and head up the steep road to the water tower. Enjoy the panoramic views of the town, headlands, beaches and hinterland.

Head back down the road, and turn right back into South Pacific Drive. Here the road follows Warrell Creek, which was once used by the area’s first white settler, William Scott, to transport cedar. At the bottom of the hill on the left hand side is Warrell Weir, a great sport to launch a boat or picnic.

A further 500 metres down the road, leads to beach access. Or, if you are driving or feeling energetic, turn left along the dirt track for a couple of kilometres to the sewerage works. More importantly, is a sign noting the area’s original inhabitants, the Gumbaynggirr people, asking the traveller to respect their land. Look out for the spectacular black cockatoo, which are often seen in this area in large numbers.
