It's not hard to see why this is the largest ski resort in the southern hemisphere. This super-sized snow playground is an amalgamation of four outstanding Australia ski resorts: Perisher Valley, Smiggin Holes, Guthega and Blue Cow Mountain, all on more than 1250 snow-covered hectares. A network of 50 ski lifts links seven mountain peaks and one ticket gives you the freedom to enjoy them all.
Perisher boasts Australia's best skiing and boarding. Located well above the the snow-line, there is always plenty of snow, whether it be natural or man-made (Perisher boasts 34.5ha of snow-making). Weather forecasts are predicting a permanent shade of white at Perisher. A new snowmaking and light system have been installed for at the family friendly Tube Town for 2007. This allows for endless fun into the night. There is also a new snowsport school for all beginners.
A visit to the Perisher snow country uncovers the enormity of the Perisher Valley, home of Australia's most reliable area of snow. Seemingly endless runs stretch over the area, offering top-to-bottom, side-to-side snow. This is the place for skiing adventures, family fun, nature at its most chilling, and winter at its height. This idea of Perisher being the biggest resort in the southern hemisphere is bunk. Valle Nevado in Chile has 23,000 acres(9300 hectares), the snowboarding area is 9000 acres alone (3600 hectares) this is a stunt that PB has tried on the gullible public more than once. Don't be mislead by...
ReplyMy tip for Perisher is to make sure you ask for a special hot chocolate at the bottom of the Happy Valley lift. After a hard morning skiing nothing is better. What makes it special I wont tell you but you wont be dissapointed.
