Dangar Island is a popular holiday island on the Hawkesbury River north of Sydney. This wooded island is accessed via the Dangar Island Ferry that departs from Brooklyn near the CityRail train station on the Hawkesbury.
Dangar offers an alternative holiday destination to get away from it all. With a permanent population of 250 people that substantially increases during holiday seasons, Dangar is great for fishing, boating, relaxing and getting away from it all. There are no private cars on the island. The ferry runs 7 days per week and takes 10 minutes from Brooklyn.
The island has one shop/café, and a licensed bowling club that opens on the weekends and serves meals. The island also has a community hall that supports several community groups.
