North western Sydney stretches from Sydney's Hills District, west of Hornsby and north of the M2, through to Sydney's northern playground, the beautiful Hawkesbury Valley.
The Hills District boasts modern city shopping, dining and entertainment, but the real draw card for this area is the picturesque scenery that abounds. Winding through the valley, Hawkesbury River is dotted with charming villages, orchards, historic wineries and national parks.
Visitors to the area can water-ski, abseil, take a boat cruise, bushwalk, explore canyons or browse the many unique art galleries, and when you’ve had enough of that there’s fine dining restaurants set on the waterfront - the best vantage to view the ever changing riverside landscape.
Wisemans Ferry, which was once a major river port on the Hawkesbury, is popular with families seeking a respite from the city. You can play a round of golf, explore historic bushwalking trails or do a 180 and experience one of the best waterskiing paradises around.
The Hawkesbury Highlands, featuring the towns of Kurrajong, Bilpin and Mount Tomah, are a tranquil rural paradise positioned just 90 minutes northwest of Sydney's CBD.The Grand Circular Tourist Drive is a fantastic way to explore the region, taking in several of the regions most popular towns, attractions and lookouts.
