Cronulla boasts a long expanse of beach that stretches from Kurnell to the mouth of the Port Hacking River. Being Sydneys only beach easily accessible by rail, it is popular with day-trippers from all over Sydney. Having undergone massive refurbishment of the last decade Cronulla has become an up-market, trendy village to sip a latte, dine and shop.
The lovely villages in this locality which hug the Port Hacking river affording spectacular view of the Royal National Park are home to Southern Sydney's rich club. Whilst the light industrial area of Taren Point offers just about anything from cheap discount car places to discount superstores and gardening centres.
The main reason people come to Cronulla is its beautiful long white beach. Surfers, swimmers, sunbathers (people watching is a popular sport on Aussie beaches), all go to Cronulla to enjoy this beautiful piece of Australia's coastline.
Still, theres plenty to tempt the adventurous in this southern Sydney peninsula suburb. The area has facilities for scuba diving, skydiving, hang gliding, horse riding; Knight Ridingthe suburb is bordered to the south by Australias first national park, The Royal National Park. Get down there by ferry and check out the 150sq/km of bushland and 30km of coastline with cliffs, protected bays and surf beaches. Go inland a bit and ride a horse through a rainforest. Leap off a rock into the Port Hacking River. Or just have a nice picnic.Photos
