Halfway between Albury and Wagga Wagga is Hently, originally known as Doodle Cooma or 'sweet water' in the local Aboriginal language. The township is nestled between undulating countryside, picturesque wheat and sheep country, and has a population of just over 1,000 people.

The town itself features quaint antique shops, the parkland at Billabong Creek has nature walks showcasing local flora and fauna and the local museum provides information about both Henty and the surrounding area.

In 1914 a local farmer named Headlie Taylor invented the header harvester which revolutionised the grain industry worldwide when it became commercially available in 1916. This has become Henty's major claim to fame and the reason why it is known as the 'Home of the Header'.
