Darwin surprises most people because they’re not expecting a bustling, modern capital city of approximately 125,000 people, sitting on one of Australia’s prettiest harbours.

For visitors looking for authentic Aboriginal artwork, Darwin has an extensive selection of galleries and shops as well as multicultural markets at Parap, Nightcliff and Mindil Beach.

The city offers a wide variety of entertainment including nightclubs, theatres, Skycity Casino and several large shopping centres. There is a smorgasbord of restaurants offering a variety local cuisine from mud crabs and barramundi to kangaroo and crocodile.

From Darwin Harbour you can enjoy an array of world-class fishing experiences, eco habitat adventures and relaxing sunset cruises. Whether you’re interested in discovering more about the natural environment, Aboriginal culture or the pioneering history of Darwin, you can see it all at the various attractions and national parks scattered throughout the region.

Darwin is the starting point for holidays to the Top End and the gateway to a range of attractions within easy driving distance. To the west is Litchfield National Park with its beautiful waterfalls cascading from the Tabletop Range, crystal clear swimming holes and 4WD tracks. The east offers waterfalls, wetlands, and wildlife of the famous Kakadu National Park including the untamed beauty of Arnhem Land and the sailing and game fishing playgrounds of the Gove Peninsula.
