Weather for Jabiru

Jabiru is in the middle of nowhere. Situated near the spectacular Arnhem Land Escarpment in Kakadu National Park, Jabiru was initially established to service Ranger Uranium Mine in 1979.

Since then however, Jabiru has become a haven for Australias rich indigenous history and is now home to a number of tourism operators offering animal tracks and bush tucker tours.

Situated on a 13 sq km lease within Kakadu, Jabiru is the only Australian town set within a national park.

The citizens of Jabiru take pride in their unique town and enjoy a relaxed, comfortable lifestyle. Jabiru features an Olympic size swimming pool, tennis courts and a challenging 9-hole golf course.

Environmental concerns arising from mining in a World Heritage Area has meant that Government supervisory bodies have been established in the area.

Jabiru has miners, scientists and environmental specialists working in a unique relationship with the aim of preserving and restoring this beautiful area.

Only about 400 people in Kakadu live outside of Jabiru, half of these are Indigenous. Jabiru is located 250km (3hrs) southeast of Darwin.
