Historic Paddington lies just a few minutes from the city across the steep hills and terraces that characterise the inner western suburbs. Queenslander cottages of weatherboard and corrugated iron, painted in a mix of heritage shades and vibrant tropical colours make Paddington picturesque. Cottage industries fill the converted cottages along the main street, intermingled with cafes and a large antique market, housed in a former cinema. A good alternative for gift shopping, dining and exploring the local heritage trail.
Head to Given Terrace for popular cafes and a variety of reasonably priced multicultural restaurants including Indian, Indonesian and Chinese.
If you want to shop for formal attire, head to the glamour row of the designer shops just out of the CBD at Park Road Milton or Caxton Street Paddington.Photos
