Weather for Inskip Point

Just 9km north of Rainbow Beach is the internationally renowned Inskip Peninsula and the gateway to Fraser Island. Inskip Point is accessed from the town of Rainbow Beach. In the past this involved the use of a four wheel drive vehicle along the main beach to the camping area at Inskip. These days the old mining road is fully sealed making it much more accessible.

The southern tip of Fraser Island lies just off Inskip Point and takes approximately 15 minutes by barge. On its Eastern borders the peninsula is surrounded by the Pacific Ocean and to the west the secluded waters of Tin Can Bay and Great Sandy Strait.

Most of the peninsula has been set aside as a recreation area to encourage nature-based activities. The area hosts an array of beautiful marine and wetland life. Dolphins, turtles, birds and dugong are all regular visitors. Inskip Peninsula is also a popular fishing spot and a section of its ocean beach is lifeguard patrolled making it family friendly all year round.
