Kirra Beach is home of the Gold Coast's famed board riding beach at Kirra Point offering the experienced surfer challenging waves and smaller shore waves for beginners, the ideal beach getaway.
Home of Queenslands first surf club, this region has provided a training area for many surfing greats, known for its long, right-hand surf breaks. There are now 3 surf life saving clubs, little nipper events for the potential future pros and major surf competitions.
Try hiring a long board for the day or take a surf lesson, guaranteed fun for the young at heart. Nearby Duranbah is another surfing hot spot and The Oceanway offers walking and viewing platforms which are wheelchair accessible for those who wish to enjoy watching the surfers.
Kirra is only 1km from the Gold Coast Airport on the southern side and close to the attractions of Coolangatta. Head for excellent dive sites at Kirra and Cook Islands to the south or travel north or travel to the nearby Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary.Photos
