Summary
Weather for Rathdowney

Europeans first explored the township of Rathdowney as early as 1828. Rathdowney was known for its contribution to the Australian cattle, timber and dairying industries. This rural community is closely intertwined with its rich heritage and historical significance.

Even today, the town celebrates the annual Rathdowney Heritage Day exhibiting displays of past bush skills such as, cross-saw cutting, blacksmithing and woodcarving. Watch the procession of horse-drawn vehicles with the townsfolk in historic costume.

Horsemanship is also strong with a rodeo and various other riding events. Fishing is popular with a lot of the locals opting to cast a line in Flanagan and Bigriggen Reserves, the best fishing locations.

Rathdowney is the gateway to Mt Barney National Park, a rugged area with banksias, Antarctic beech trees and native apple trees. Farm stays, camping, bed and breakfasts and cabins are just some choices of accommodation whilst you stay in this unique area of the Gold Coast.
