The Springbrook Mountain plateau is located south of Brisbane and inland from the Gold Coast, high in the McPherson Ranges (world famous for the Lamington National Park). Known as the Scenic Rim it is made up of Springbrook, Lamington National Park, Mt Barney and Cunningham's Gap.
Springbrook has a range of accommodation from self-contained cottages to full-board establishments. For backpackers there is a YHA hostel to which pre-booked Gold Coast transfers are available.
There is also a variety of eating places from licensed and BYO restaurants to tearooms and a small shop with takeaways, basic provisions and petrol. Galleries featuring pottery and other arts and crafts are scattered over the mountain.
Access is via either Mudgeeraba or Nerang and Murwillumbah over the NSW border via Numinbah Valley where the Natural Bridge section of the Springbrook National Park is found. The other Parks, accessed from the plateau, offer half and full day walks in the rainforest, with spectacular waterfalls and lookouts.Photos
