Once a sugar area renowned for its rum production, and Beenleigh nearby, Woongoolba is located east of Beenleigh between Brisbane and the Gold Coast region. With Jacobs Well to the south, Woongoolba is close to the coast and the Broadwater between the mainland and South Stradbroke Island.

This rural Gold Coast area was settled in 1864 with German, English and Scottish settlers all adding to the areas current character.
