From the large commercial centre of Southport through to resort suburbs such as Biggera Waters, Runaway Bay and Sanctuary Cove, the Gold Coast Broadwater is a magnificent stretch of waterway home to 5-star resorts, theme parks and marinas.
Southport overlooks the Broadwater and South Stradbroke Island and is sheltered by the Broadwater Spit. The area caters to fishing, scenic boat charters and cruises around the extensive waterways at Broadbeach Waters and from Southport Yacht Club overlooking the huge marina.
Broadwater is a naturally protected waterway used for water sports, boating, fishing and swimming. Wander along the scenic walkways, go cycling or view the play of light on the water. Fishing is popular here where you can head to Barney Street fishing platform for whiting, bream, trevally and flathead.
Southport is also home to the Australian Fair shopping centre with its huge variety of shops and cafes as well as the exclusive waterside Marina Mirage boutiques and fortnightly Saturday markets.Photos
