Mount Isa's main financial base is the huge Mount Isa Mine, the world's largest single producer of copper, silver, lead and zinc. Take a tour of the mine, which takes you 1.6 kilometres below ground, visit the the unusual 65m tunnel which is the Frank Aston Underground Museum. Also worth a visit is the Riversleigh Fossil Centre and the John Middlin Mining Museum.
Nearby attractions include the Camooweal Caves,the Lawn Hill National Park and Lake Moondara, where visitors can enjoy spotting wildlife, swimming, boating and bushwalking.
