Taroom Shire is renowned for high quality beef cattle, prime hard wheat, other grain crops and forestry products. The Shire encompasses the townships of Taroom and Wandoan and promotes three exciting self-drive tours to explore the region. These include taking in the breathtaking beauty of Isla Gorge, which abounds with native flora, excellent for bushwalking. Visitors always enjoy fishing on the Dawson River. Both towns provide historical/heritage centres open by arrangement.
