The country township of Ingham lies halfway between Cairns and Townsville, right in the Heart of the Great Green Way. Ingham marks the southern gateway to the Wet Tropics World Heritage listed rainforests of Tropical North Queensland.

Known for its thriving sugar cane industry, Ingham is home to Victoria Mill - the largest sugar cane mill in Australia and one of the largest in the southern hemisphere. Ingham has a rich multicultural history that saw Italian farmers settle in the area back in the days when cane was cut by hand. Due to this heritage, Ingham is often referred to as North Queensland's "Little Italy".

West of Ingham is Australia's highest sheer drop waterfall, Wallaman Falls at 305 metres. You can hike down to the base of the falls and take a refreshing dip, or view the falls from the lookout.

North-east of Ingham is the majestic Hinchinbrook Island. Hinchinbrook is Australia's largest Island National Park. Accommodation is strictly limited, and at any given time there are only a handful of people staying on the entire Island.

The region has no less than six recreational national parks, forests and islands making it a very special part of Tropical North Queensland.
