Weather for Cairns Beaches

Cairns beaches stretch 25 kilometres north of the city past the cane fields and the Barron River Bridge. They are a string of small towns each with their own unique character. Stinger resistant swimming enclosures are in operation between November and May.

Machans Beach - Beautiful beaches, interesting beachfront homes and fishing spots.Facilities: a boat ramp, a mini mart, post office, petrol station and general store, an internet café.

Holloways Beach - Swimming beach, picnic areas, and boat ramp. Facilities: variety of accommodation, shops, cafes, restaurants, a liquor store, a newsagency and a general store.

Yorkeys Knob - Located close to Smithfield. Large township with beautiful beach, good fishing spots, marina and golf course. Facilities: variety of accommodation and services. Camping Near to Skyrail Rainforest Cableway and Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Park.

Smithfield - Location: Near Kuranda turnoff. Facilities: Shopping Centre with speciality stores, supermarkets, chain stores.

Trinity Beach - Spectacular palm fringed cove framed by twin headlands. Lookout situated on the hill above the beach. Facilities: Variety of accommodation, alfresco restaurants, a great shopping and service centre.

Kewarra Beach - Facilities: small shopping plaza and beachfront resort.

Clifton Beach - Tropical beach with swaying palms, island views and beyond to the coral sea. Facilities: Variety of accommodation, shops, restaurants, supermarket, medical centre.

Palm Cove - Picturesque beach with offshore islands. Jetty which has daily departures to Green Island and Outer Barrier Reef. Facilities: wide range of accommodation from international hotels to small resorts.

Further north, the road leads to Buchans and Ellis Beaches. The road between the 2 towns is called the ‘mango highway’. If your passing by in December be sure to pick some from the trees. There is a Surf lifesaving clubhouse, a restaurant/kiosk and fabulous oceanfront caravan park (a must!).
