Cairns city is in the heart of Tropical North Queensland and is the gateway to the Northern Great Barrier Reef. A modern, sophisticated city, it is an ideal base to explore the wider region including coral reef, rainforest and outback as well as be in close proximity to all the modern conveniences.
The city is built around the esplanade with its huge saltwater swimming lagoon, BBQ areas, beach volleyball, boardwalk and array of restaurants, markets and shopping arcades. From the marina there are diving tours going to the Great Barrier Reef, whale watching tours and fishing charters to name a few.
Cairns International Airport is located only several minutes drive north of the city centre and there is a huge range of accommodation to choose from including major hotels, self catering apartments, seafront resorts and backpackers.Photos
