Located just 9km from the turn off at Silkwood, Kurrimine Beach is a fishermans paradise and a popular spot for those seeking a quiet and relaxed holiday escape. As a small coastal town with historic buildings and aged charm, Kurrimine Beach was damaged by Cyclone Larry in March of 2006, but has bounced back and with modern buildings such as the local pub, The King Reef Hotel.
Kurrimine Beach is renowned for nearby King Reef that lies just off the coast. When tides are low, the reef is exposed and visible from the shore. This is a perfect area for seasonal snorkelling as marine stingers are common in some warmer months of the year.
Conveniently close to larger towns such as Innisfail, Kurrimine still holds an element of peaceful isolation from the rest of the world. This small township is free from modern development (except for the reestablishment of some buildings after Cyclone Larry), and is still reminiscent of a former era with its slow paced living and friendly natured locals. Kurrimine Beach is a place to enjoy a real laid back atmosphere.Photos
