Considered to be the gateway to the Whitsundays, at the fridge of the Great Barrier Reef, Airlie Beach is a beautiful little tourist town set against the magnificent backdrop of rolling national park hills and a deep azure sea.
No matter what youre into; from diving and snorkelling to skydiving and hiking, the region is host to a fantastic range of activities & attractions. Hire a luxury yacht, join a scuba adventure or test your skills on an offshore fishing trip.
As sunset breaks, its a truly relaxing experience to sip a cocktail by the beach and watch the sailboats returning from a long day at sea. Crewed overnight island charters are available, meaning the fun doesnt have to stop at sunset.
Held each October, the Paddling Through History Festival is a 4-day canoe trip through the Whitsundays, departing from Airlie Beach, and tracing the original routes taken by local Ngaro Aboriginals more than 6000 years earlier.
Aside from the huge range of water related activities, Airlie Beach town is a hub of fine dining, fast food, pubs and nightclubs fit for the city party animal.
