Woodside is a beautiful small town in the lovely Onkaparinga Valley near the Lofty Ranges of South Australia. Established in the 1850s, Woodside is now a popular town with plenty on offer. It is an easy scenic drive of about 35 minutes from Adelaide, only 10 minutes from the Freeway and Hahndorf and nearby to Oakbank and Lobethal.
Nearby Heritage Park houses several interesting attractions including the Mill Shop of Onkaparinga and the place where you can learn about chocolate and lolly making the old fashioned way, at Melba's Chocolate Factory. Just about every type of chocolate imaginable is on offer here, and it's fascinating to watch the chocolate and sweet makers at work. Browse through Woodside Bazaar trading antiques, collectables, second hand furniture and much more.
Head for the Woodside Horse and Trail Riding Centre, which offers guided horse riding through scenic Australian bush. In town there are several pubs, antique shops and cafes. A country market is held on the third Saturday of each month.
