Elliston is a popular coastal resort town situated on the shores of the beautiful Waterloo Bay. Well known for its breathtaking sunsets, excellent fishing and magnificent views of cliffs and beaches.
Elliston was the name chosen by Governor Jervois in 1878 after Miss Ellen Liston, the governess of a local pioneering family. Early settlers transported their provisions and produce, wool and wheat, by sailing vessels. Steamships replaced these when the new Jetty was erected in 1900.
Elliston itself has excellent facilities for the visitor, and accommodation is provided by the way of a Hotel, Motel, self-contained flats, two Caravan parks, Train accommodation and Bed breakfast establishments.
Other services include a Road house, Bakery, Café, Restaurant, Butcher, Supermarket, Doctor’s surgery, Post office with Giro post, Internet facilities, Police station and Hospital.
Sporting facilities include a golf course; licensed community sports centre, oval, and flood lit tennis court. All-weather airstrip is available for light air craft.
