Features the Pink Roadhouse, which is a mine of information for travellers heading into the Witjira National Park and the Simpson Desert. The town took its name from the Aboriginal word Utnadata which means blossom of the mulga. The town was once a major rail link and the historic railway station building has been converted to a museum that is worth checking out.
The all dirt Oodnadatta Track runs for 600 odd kilometres along the western shores of Lake Eyre between Marree at the bottom of the Birdsville Track and Marla on the Stuart Highway. The two towns of William Creek and Oodnadatta are evenly dotted at 200 kilometre intervals along the track.
Amongst its points of interest are the historic railway museum, the local hotel.
