The centerpiece of the Flinders Ranges National Park, Wilpena Pound is a magnificent natural amphitheatre located approx 429km north of Adelaide. The closest towns are Blinman to the north and Hawker to the south.
Although from the outside the Pound appears as a single range of mountains, it is actually two: one on the western edge, and one on the eastern, joined by the long Rawnsley's Bluff at the south.
A popular destination for bushwalking, The Pound traverses some of the most beautiful country in the Flinders Ranges and has a number of walking trails suitable for all levels of experience.
The area is rich in wildlife including emus, kangaroos, bird life and the threatened yellow footed rock wallaby.
