Weather for Vivonne Bay

Vivonne Bay can only be described as stunningly beautiful. The long curved sandy beach is a superb site for picnics, beach combing, or fishing expeditions. Experienced surfers enjoy the tremendous turquoise waters. Fishing from the jetty, beach, boats, or the Harriet River mouth is excellent. There is a picnic area with BBQ, camping and toilet facilities.

The beach can be reached by taking either of the roads off to the left just past the Vivonne Bay Store. Safe swimming areas are near the jetty and boat ramp, or the sandy bottomed Harriet River that enters the bay nearby. Elsewhere the bay has an undertow that must be respected.

On the other side of Harriet River, the Vivonne Bay western headland, Point Ellen, provides photographers with spectacular views of coastal scenery with the Southern Ocean sending its waves crashing on to the cliff face.

Vivonne Bay is the only safe harbour on the south coast of the Island and is the base for cray fishing and game fishing boats. Four world record tuna catches have been made off these shores.
