ReplyTazzie, very similar to NZ with the skifields, rivers, seas, scenery. If you dont have the cash to go to NZ just grab the ferry from melbourne. Went in 80 for a 3 mths, got back end 83. Saw way more than the average h/daymaker. Worked on trawlers in bass straight so saw it from the outside too.
ReplyWhile we were visiting Tasmania we thought we would go for a drive out to the forests. What forests! We came across 7 dead wallabies with a tiny joey out of his mums pouch meters away. All had no signs of trauma in this case and were obviously poisoned.Dangerous place full of mad loggers and haters
ReplyI think the whole of tasmania offers something a little different for the tourist. I recommend tourists should visit the Arthur River and take a cruise , Cradle Mountain, Strachan, Lake St. Clair , The Wall at Derwent Bridge, Mount Field National Park and the Salmon Ponds, Relax have fun.
ReplyWe have been to Tasmania now several times and cannot wait to return. If it weren't so far from our kids we would live there. Shortly we will be returning to participate in a bell festival and intend to stay extra days traveling up from Devonport to Stanley - an almost hidden treasure. -...
ReplyI'm an American living in Tasmania off & on for over 20 yrs. At no time have I ever heard Tas. as supposed to be sophisticated or ozzing fashion. Devonport really shouldn't take it to heart.
ReplyBeen to Tassie twice will go back in near future, if ever we move will try to live in Penquin or Devonport or any where on North Coast, even Queenstown is improving from the first visit. If you want a good feed try the Restaurant on the Wharf at Strahan beatutiful sea food
ReplyI have been to Tassie twice in the last few years and am looking forward to going back as soon as I can. Yes Queenstown hinterland is ugly but that is man made and is slowly being sorted. Can't comment on Burnie as only spent a night there. Tahune Air Walk is fabulous.
