Tasmania’s capital city of Hobart is an intriguing blend of heritage and lifestyle, scenery and vibrant culture. Head south following The Huon Trail through waterways and find wilderness or head south east to the Tasman Peninsula for scenery, wildlife, heritage and adventure.
Drive to the top of Mt Wellington where you will be rewarded with stunning views across Hobart, the Tasman Peninsula, the Derwent River and Bruny Island.
Take the ferry from Hobart Harbour to Bruny Island or enjoy a boat cruise to the island viewing dolphins, whales and seals whilst marvelling at the rugged coastline with its towering cliffs and beautiful bays.
Explore the Southern Tasmania coastline by foot, by seaplane or by boat with natural wonders including the Tessellated Pavement on the Tasman Peninsula. Visit the famous Port Arthur with its historic convict settlement site and open air museum. If you want to see the native Tasmanian Devil, nearby Taranna’s Tasmanian Devil Park is a great place to stop where you can learn about conservation efforts, feed kangaroos and watch the ‘Dive of the Falcon’ bird show.
Mount Field National Park has a range of walks to choose from around soaring trees, Pandani heathland, the Dobson Lake and magnificent waterfalls, including the popular Russell Falls and 100m further upstream Horseshoe Falls.
There is an array of activities in the area to discover including helicopter flights over spectacular scenery, wine tasting tours and the Hastings dolomite caves and natural thermal springs.Photos
