Weather for Jericho

Jericho is an important historical village located in central Tasmania between Hobart and Launceston off the Midland Highway. Founded in 1816, it is one of the oldest townships in Australia.

Jericho contains many exceptional examples of early colonial sandstone architecture, including convict cut culverts, bridges and walls, many of which date from the 1830's. More than 200 convicts were used to construct the road linking Hobart and Launceston.

The town flourished in the nineteenth century as a stage coach post, but declined in the twentieth century. To visit Jericho requires a detour off the Midland Highway but is well worth the effort. It is a quaint historical village that retains it's colonial charm and is a part of the Tasmanian Heritage Highway.
