Kingston is a lovely beachside suburb of Hobart, situated just 14km south of the city via Channel Highway. Nearby attractions include the famous Shot Tower and Blackmans Bay blowhole.

The headquarters of the Australian Antarctic Division, responsible for the country’s Antarctic research, is also based in Kingston. Open weekdays from 9am – 5pm, displays include fascinating photographs and well as such important Antarctic artefacts as Sir Douglas Mawson's sledge.

St Clements Church, located on the corner of Beach Road and the Channel Highway, was built from Huon pine in 1874. The distinctive church spire features a weather clock in place of the traditional crucifix, and was built to celebrate the debts for building the church finally being paid off.

Blackmans Bay blowhole, which is in the reserve on Talone Road, can be a dramatic sight when storms are lashing the coast. Hidden in a park at the northern end of the beach, the blowhole is hard to find so you will probably need to ask directions. The nearby area affords sensational views.

The scenic Alum Cliffs Walking Trail leads along the cliff tops between Kingston Beach and Taroona. The Trail is approximately 8 kms long and is an unformed bush track with excellent views; approx 2 to 3 hours walking time each way.
