On the narrow strip of land linking the Forestier Peninsula with the mainland, is the fishing village of Dunalley. It can be located en route to Port Arthur on the A9 Highway, 57 kilometres south-east of Hobart. A 2.2km long swing bridge straddles the Denison Canal that cuts across the isthmus, allowing vehicles easy access into Dunalley.
Although the local population is barely 200 there is still a variety of activities and sights to discover. On Cape Paul is the Tasman Memorial, commemorating the first landing by Europeans on December 2nd 1642. The Dunalley Fish Market has a myriad of local seafood. They also offer a BBQ area. The waterways are very scenic and worthy of walks, picnics or watching the fishing boats come in.Photos
