Weather for Swansea

Situated 134km (2hrs) northeast of Hobart, and 135km (2hrs) southeast of Launceston; Swansea is a delightfully historic village positioned on Great Oyster Bay, with views of the Freycinet National Park and Schouten Island.

Swansea is comfortably warm, rather than swelteringly hot, with maximum average temps of around of 22C. Ideal for fishing, swimming and diving, its a nature and gourmet lovers paradise.

First explored by Captain Cox in 1798, and established as a garrison in 1827, this is a charming township has an untouched landscape, abundant wildlife and many beaches and bays in and around Swansea with lookouts out over the coastline.

Swansea has a population of 530, housed in colonial buildings, contemporary homes and classic beachside shacks. Self-guided historic walks a great way to see the area - pass Schouten House, Meredith House & Morriss General Store.

Visitors can also enjoy wine tasting at the Wine & Wool Centre, and other local produces includes fresh delicious oysters, walnuts, olives, berries, and wine.
