Weather for Pyengana

26 km inland from St. Helens is the tiny town of Pyengana. Drive east from Launceston and you will understand why this area is special. This is Tasmania’s prime dairy and cattle land. The passage in leads uphill, through a native myrtle forest to the summit of Weldborough Pass. This is a windy, narrow road, where hand constructed stone walls, built in the Great Depression can still be seen.

Pyengana is best known for three points:

The Tasmanian Tiger, believed to be extinct, was allegedly sighted by a national parks ranger in 1995. There have been a large number of sightings of the Thylacine here.

The Pyengana Diary Company is situated here. The cheese factory shop sells about three tonnes of cheese a year. Visitors can watch cheese being made, sample a little and of course purchase an abundance of cheese varieties.

Located just 6km from Pyengana are the spectacular St Columba Falls. The oldest pub in Tasmania is also located here.
