Located 95 km from Launceston, Ringarooma is a small town surrounded by farming country and is adjacent to the even smaller town of Legerwood. It is the centre of a prosperous dairy and crop farming district, dating back to the late 1860’s. On the edge of Mount Victoria and with Ben Lomond rising to the south, Ringarooma can be subject to snow from October.

From the top of Mathinna Hill there are magnificent views with alpine and pastoral scenery. The Mt Victoria Forest Reserves gives access to the Magnificent Ralph Falls and wilderness. There are also pleasant drives on the New River road, the Alberton road, and the Ruby Flat Road. The journey between Ringarooma and Branxholm passes through pioneer and gold mining areas.

The town has a number of convenience stores, a general store, butchery, hairdresser, a hotel, also an online access centre and a primary school.
