Located 375 km from Melbourne and 670 km from Sydney, Orbost is a medium-sized township on the river flats of the Snowy Mountains. Close to the coast it is only 45m above sea level.
The Snowy River Orbost Visitors Centre has free tourist drive brochures, maps, national park information, local arts and crafts, souvenirs, and information relating to museums and wineries.
Orbost is perfectly located for bush-walking, camping, fishing, diving, surfing or kayaking forays into the chain of national parks which stretch to and across the NSW border.
Orbost is approximately four and a half hours drive from Melbourne via the Princes Highway.
