On the banks of the Ovens River, tucked in at the foot of the Ovens Valley, the former gold-mining town of Harrietville can be found.

Traditionally known as a ski mecca, Harrietville has become an all seasons getaway. Swim the local rivers and water holes, bushwalk in the Victorian Alpine National Park, explore the old gold mine trails of the past or walk the high country cattle trails. Harrietville is also the ideal base for more adrenaline pumping activities. Try mountain bike riding, high country hiking, 4X4 driving or cross country or alpine skiing. The village is just a short drive from Mount Hotham which is a major alpine resort offering excellent skiing.

Winter aside, Harrietville is very attractive in autumn when blazing tree top canopies create a spectacular display. The small commercial centre includes a general store, two hotels, and a selection of accommodation.
