The Macedon Ranges & Wine Region is a picturesque area marked by the towering Mount Macedon & Hanging Rock. Renowned for its fabulous wine producing conditions, blue-stone buildings, fine restaurants, dusty antique stores and relaxing day spas, it's a popular day trip destination.
The Macedon Ranges are famous for their views, native forests, wildlife, historic monuments and, perhaps foremost, their substantial homes and garden flower displays in Spring. At the western end of the range, the 2379 hectare Macedon Regional Park dominates the skyline.
Hanging Rock is one of the most famous places in Central Victoria, and has been a favourite scene for gatherings since the early days of European settlement. You can scale pinnacles, squeeze through crevices, explore, scramble up and down slopes and rock faces, revel in views, observe koalas, wallabies and nearly forty species of birds or have the traditional picnic.
The historic goldrush town of Kyneton is one of Victoria's oldest 'working' towns. After the days of the gold rush ended, the town rebranded itself and now has a reputation as a retreat village. Kyneton is a town of unique character and gentle ambience, whose people extend a warm welcome to all who come and visit, or stay.
Lancefield's streetscape features wide median strip, historic buildings, established gardens and statuesque trees. The towns major attraction is the Antique Centre of Victoria, which is crammed with Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian antiques from the UK, Europe, Australia and the USA.Photos
