Beaumaris, one of Melbourne's most exclusive suburbs in the Port Phillip Bayside area, lies between Mentone and Blackrock, on a peninsula surrounded by the seaon three sides. During the years of 1987-96, the median house price in Beaumaris was about 87% higher than the median price for metropolitan Melbourne.

Ricketts Point is the most prominent part of the linear foreshore reserve and is now a marine sanctuary. Home to the Beaumaris Life Saving Club, Ricketts Point is a popular beach area with a great swimming beach, and is host to Life Saving Carnivals in the Summer.

The coastline of Beaumaris is a mixture of steep rocky cliffs and shallow sandy beaches, and can be explored on bicycle or on foot by following the pedestrian trail that runs the entire length of the island.

Beaumaris has a "village atmosphere" which is reflected in the selection of specialty shops and restaurants in the Beaumaris Concourse. Like most exclusive bayside suberbs, Beaumaris boasts its own yacht club and is a golfers dream, in close proximity to the Royal Melbourne, cheltenham, Victoria and Sandringham golf clubs.
