Brighton is a Melbourne's most sought after out of town address; grand homes, boutique shopping, fine restaurants and chic cafes, and home to Dendy Street Beach, where the last of the iconic Brighton Bathing Boxes stand.
This residential suburb boasts higher median property prices than metropolitan Melbourne, and is a great place to visit to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city, while still having access to the cosmopolitan amenities one would expect from an exclusive suburb. Brighton has two shopping precincts, one in Bay Street and one in Church Street, each with cafes, antique shops and two cinemas.
An area rich in history, Brighton has many iconic and heritage sights to see. The historic art deco-style Middle Brighton Municipal Baths can be found between Middle Brighton Beach and Sandown St Beach, and many old heritage-listed old churches and residences can be found along North Road.
For those who like the outdoors, Brighton has everything to offer, with a number of reserves close by and the Bay Trail off-road bicycle path, which runs along the Brighton foreshore. Here you can check out the Royal Brighton Yacht Club, take a stroll along the Middle Brighton Pier and enjoy the views of the breakwater and the Melbourne city skyline.Photos
