Take a trip to Elwood and you'll find it difficult to believe that this trendy area was once just a swamp. Large period houses and art deco dwellings line the exclusive beach side streets juxtaposed by the vision of Melbourne skyline.
During summer it is a favourite amongst beach goers, surfers, windsurfers and cyclists, or those just enjoying a walk along the shoreline. Summer is also the perfect time to catch one of the several triathlons held at the beach annually.
Along the beach you will find barbecues, children's playgrounds, tennis courts, an angling club, lifesaving club and the renowned Elwood sailing club. The beach is divided into zones to accommodate this myriad of beach activities, with a no-boating area for swimmers and a designated water skiing zone. The Bayside Trail bicycle path follows the entire length of the beach and is a great way to take in the sights.Photos
